Please donate generously to preserve the “SUMMIT”!

Lake Sir John in partnership with Conservation Lakefield is launching a fundraising campaign to purchase and conserve the “SUMMIT”. This 48 acre “SUMMIT” area includes a beautiful hilltop, visible from Lake Sir John, and its surrounding forest through which an important stream flows into Lake Sir John from Kenny Lake.

After intense negotiations, we have successfully temporarily stopped development of a new road and 16 houses. However, Conservation Lakefield has to raise $640,000 to purchase the “SUMMIT” land at market value.

In the past few years, Conservation Lakefield has successfully protected 375 acres, just north of Lake Sir John. This land is protected in perpetuity. They have raised over $700K from private donations and over $1.0M from federal, provincial and other grants. They will be partnering with us to protect the “SUMMIT” by raising funds from Lakefield Estate residents and as well as arranging for government funding. Strong private donations have been essential to getting significant government funding in previous phases.

We need your help to preserve the “SUMMIT”. Please, join your Lake Sir John neighbours and friends and make a donation (or pledge) to Conservation Lakefield before December 31, 2024. All amounts are welcome. Tax receipts will be issued.
