Sunday Afternoon Regattas

Sir John’s Lake Sunfish Racing Championship began in 1967. For the last 54 years, sailors have competed for this annual trophy, while fans and supporters cheered them on from the shores of our beautiful lake.

We would welcome anyone interested in sailing to join us. We have managed to secure extra boats as needed to allow newcomers the opportunity to join in the fun.

We are also in a position to offer coaching in how to sail and race.

Races take place every Sunday afternoon, weather permitting, between 2 – 4 PM beginning the first Sunday in July until the Sunday of Labour Day when we have our wrap-up celebratory party. All residents of Lac Sir John are welcome to participate, and also to attend the party as “Friends of the Sailing Club”.

For more information please contact Doug Dempster at (613) 299-8485 or Christopher Vroom at (450) 562-6556.

Annual Summer Corn Boil of Lac Sir John

2018 Annual Corn Roast - August 25 - Fanshawe Yacht Club ...

The Annual Corn Boil takes place at Boathouse Beach in late July or August.   This is our great annual event!  A great many lake residents attend with their family and guests.  Be sure to plan to join us next summer for this wonderful chance to meet and mingle with your neighbors.  Thanks to the many lake neighbors who are involved in organizing this event.

Bring a dish to contribute to the community table (a salad or a dessert); bring your burgers (or something alternative) to cook on the communal barbeque; bring your beverages; bring an item or two to donate to the raffle table, and perhaps bring a folding chair.

Sijolm provides the corn, 6 picnic tables and some supply tables, also a portable toilet.

Help is always needed for this event, so would be welcomed if offered.  To volunteer please call or email Terry Brew 1-518-260-1395 terrybrew@alsj.ca  if you are willing to assist in any way.
